Farsightedness

Farsightedness, or hyperopia, is the ability to (sometimes) see things far away, but with blurry vision at near distance. Hyperopia occurs when the eye is too short, causing light rays entering the eye to focus behind the retina, creating a blurry image. Unfortunately for farsighted patients, they often have trouble seeing at both distance and near without correction once they reach their 30s. Farsightedness affects 25% of Americans, and is correctable with glasses, contact lenses, LASIK, PRK, or refractive lens exchange.
